A new weekly hour action adventure TV series based on the writings of futurist and 19th century author Jules Verne debuts in syndication this month.

“The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne” features many of the beloved characters from Verne’s landmark novels. The series uncovers a vast conspiracy beginning with the revelation that Jules Verne did not invent his famous sci-fi classics 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth or Around the World in Eighty Days, but actually experienced these adventures.

For The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, series creator Gavin Scott (screenwriter of The Mists of Avalon and Small Soldiers) worked under the close supervision of Talisman executive producer Richard Jackson to weave a rich tapestry of fact and fantasy.

“Jules Verne refused to accept the technological limitations of the 19th century. Not only have the producers of this compelling series taken new film technology to its limits, we’ve also pushed the literary envelope and created a fantastic world peopled by the real Phileas Fogg and his inventive valet Passepartout, who team up with young Verne and Fogg’s exotic but dangerous cousin Rebecca.” Scott explained.

Together our heroes encounter legendary icons of their day: Thomas Edison, Mark Twain, Jesse James, Alexander Dumas, Queen Victoria and others. Each week, Verne and his fellow adventurers board the flying machine Aurora, spanning the globe on a worldwide quest of discovery, danger, justice and romance.” he said.

“Jules Verne’s imagination was staggering,” Scott said. “We take for granted such things as submarines, flying machines, the subway and flying to the moon. A hundred years ago Verne was inventing these things for his readers.”

“In one special episode we reveal how Jules Verne and his friends meet the young Thomas Edison and influence his career as a great inventor,” Scott continued.

The series boasts an appealing international cast, plus top-name guest stars like David Warner, Margot Kidder, John Rhys-Davies, Michael Moriarty, Mako, Patrick Duffy, Tracy Scoggins and Rene’ Auberjonois who lend the production a first class look to match its groundbreaking storytelling and technical wizardry.

“The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne will draw viewers in with its intriguing background stories and four heroic characters who are hard to forget,” Scott concluded.
